The Wales Wonder
A wonder strike from skipper David Beckham helped England claim a comfortable 2-0 victory over Wales in their World Cup Group Six qualifier at Old Trafford.
The England captain curled a 25-yard shot into the top corner for England's second goal 14 minutes from the end.
Beckham, who stepped inside his marker from Butt's pass and let fly from 25 yards with an effort that soared over Jones into the top corner. He almost scored once again soon afterwards, but was denied at point-blank range by Jones.
"He scored a great goal, not many players can strike the ball like that but he is one of them," England striker Wayne Rooney said. "He's our captain, our leader and a great player."
