The '100th' Goal Freekick
David Beckham netted his 100th top-flight goal of his career when he fired home Real Madrid's second goal in their 3-1 win at Malaga on 21/09/03.
His century came up in typical fashion, bending the ball into the net from the edge of the area after Roberto Carlos had tapped a free kick across for Luis Figo, who in turn laid it on for the England captain to let rip from 25m.
Beckham's free-kick ranked among the finest of his career, cleverly swinging the ball over the wall and into the bottom right corner.
The set-piece was to the right of goal and Roberto Carlos looked firm favourite to strike it, but the Brazilian's decoy run fooled Malaga's defence and goalkeeper, with Beckham the beneficiary.
Roberto Carlos looked set to hit one of his wild piledrivers, but Beckham stepped forward as the Brazilian dummied to curl the ball into the left corner.
Arnau was wrong-footed by the brilliance of the set-piece move.
"All I can do is congratulate them," said Arnau.
"I lost sight of the ball and when that happened I had no chance of ever making the save."
