David Beckham says he sometimes wishes he could give up his fame and return to an "anonymous" life.
The England captain claims the pressures of being one of the world's most famous faces has taken it toll.
This will seem a surprise to some, knowing how he and wife Victoria have courted the press in the past, regularly opening their home and glam lifestyle to glossy celebrity magazines.
But Becks, back in England for Saturday's World Cup qualifier with Wales in Manchester, is adamant he misses the quiet life.
"I would love to be able to take my children over the park and play with them without the worry of anyone taking pictures," he told London's Evening Standard.

"I would love to be able to take my children over the park and play with them without the worry of anyone taking pictures," he told London's Evening Standard.
"While I am with my family I do like my private time. It would be great to just go out but we can't do that.
"We don't like having the security but unfortunately it is necessary for the children and for Victoria.
"But don't get me wrong, I would never complain about my life or what football has given me."
This year has been Becks' annus horribilis, after a seemingly never-ending run of success.
He has endured a wretched time with Real Madrid, saw England flop at Euro 2004 - and former PA Rebecca Loos claimed they had an affair.
