BECKHAM PROUD TO REACH CENTURY MILESTONE

David Beckham reflected on an England game in which he won his hundredth cap and also set up the first goal for England against the USA...
'Becks' was overjoyed to receive the ceremonial golden cap from Bobby Charlton.
"I was proud to get the hundredth cap, and also to receive something like that off Sir Bobby Charlton - he's my dad's hero, my hero - it was a proud moment as my family was here," he sighed.
"My free-kick for the first goal? Yeah, that's obviously something we worked on during the week, we worked on free kicks. We know we've got players who can get in there and score goals, and it's up to me or other players to put it in the right positions, and if we do it's up, obviously, to the players to score, and we did.
"John Terry? Yeah, everyone felt for him after the European Cup final, but he's been upbeat this week - it's obviously going to be tough for him, but he'll move on.
"I said last week that he's one of the strongest characters I've come across in football, and one of the nicest guys. To get the captain's armband and to score the first goal means a lot to him. He'll still be hurting - he'll need a lot of support from Chelsea fans and his family - which he'll get - but we're all pleased for him tonight."
Steven Gerrard echoed the ex-Madrid man's sentiments.
"We were all pleased for John. He's had a difficult week after what happened in Moscow... We all knew he'd bounce back. Football's about highs and lows - we've all experienced for them - but unfortunately for John he's experienced a real big low.
"But we always knew he'd bounce back. He's a tremendous player, and we're pleased.
