BECKHAM EXPECTED TO MISS TORONTO GAME
Monday, May 12, 2008

Toronto soccer fans will likely have to wait a little bit longer for the arrival of David Beckham in their fair city.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has been named to England's squad for a pair of exhibition games, meaning in all likelihood he will miss L.A.'s road game against Toronto FC on May 31.

England plays the U.S. at Wembley Stadium on May 28 before travelling to play Trinidad and Tobago on June 1, effectively ruling him out for duty with his Major League Soccer club during that time.

Last year, Beckham was injured and sitting on the bench with his L.A. teammates when the Galaxy played Toronto FC at BMO Field.

England coach Fabio Capello named a 30-man England roster for the two exhibition games, including Beckham, who earned his 100th cap in a contest against France in March.

Beckham could make his Toronto debut on July 24 for the MLS all-star game when the league's all-star team takes on West Ham United of the English Premiership.
