Wednesday, April 09, 2008

David Beckham has regained his position as the world's highest-paid soccer player, according to the annual report from France Football magazine.

Beckham's total of salary and endorsements jumped 82 percent during the last year to $48.9 million. Second on the list is Barcelona FC's Ronaldinho, who pulled in $38.9 million last year.

Beckham previously held the top spot from 2003-2005. His deal with the Galaxy has a top-end value of $250 million over the five years of the contract.

Beckham scored one goal and assisted on another in the home opener for the Galaxy on April 3. The team is currently 1-1 in the early stages of the 2008 Major League Soccer campaign.
