BECKHAM PLEASED WITH GALAXY ASSISTS
Monday, February 25, 2008
David Beckham put in a star performance and set up both goals as the LA Galaxy overcame Sydney 2-1 in the Pan-Pacific Championship, and was delighted to be playing football again
The LA Galaxy lost on Wednesday night, going down 1-0 to Gamba Osaka, but bounced back quickly thanks to this 2-1 triumph over the Aussies in Honolulu.
And after creating the opening goal after just three minutes and then setting up the winner, David Beckham was understandably thrilled to return to winning ways.
Assists King
"It’s always nice to have assists, and tonight I was able to get two," said the England international, who crossed for Ely Allen early on and then allowed Josh Tudela to restore the Galaxy advantage before the break. “It’s always good in pre-season to get games in because you get all the training you want. To get your match fitness in games is important.
"It’s been a really good stay in Hawaii," Beckham continued. "It’s just great that people enjoy watching me play, and watching the team play. That’s always important, that the people, kids and everybody that comes to the game has fun and enjoys themselves.”
