KATIE MEETS BECKS II

Katie meets Becks Again...
I've been lucky to meet David Beckham once before on Monday 17th November 2003. Few people are lucky enough to meet the man once, let alone twice.

My dream of meeting my hero came true again on Wednesday 1st December 2004 and it was even better than the first time.

Before I begin I would like to say a massive thank you to Weita (Webmaster of Beckham Magazine) who gave my details to a PR company who had tickets to the event. I cannot thank him enough for giving me the best ever early Christmas present.

I was browsing Beckham-Magazine Forums on the 31st November when I found out about David Beckham doing a DVD signing the next day at Virgin Megastores, Oxford Street.

Somehow I had not heard about this beforehand and apparently tickets had been available since the weekend and the event had been advertised.

I was feeling pretty down, thinking to myself 'How did you not know about this?'

"I entered competitions from the Guardian and ThisIsLondon several times hoping that I would win tickets."

To make it worse there was a competition in the Metro newspaper until 3pm and by the time I found out it was already later than that. At about 6pm Weita sent me a message saying that he has tickets and he was sending me there.

I didn't get it until 8pm and replied to it hoping it wouldn't be too late. I couldn't believe that I might be going to Becks again and went absolutely mad with delight.

But I did try to calm myself, as it wasn't confirmed yet.

In the morning I phoned the PR Company and they confirmed that I had 2 tickets.

Wow, I really couldn't believe this was happening again. I felt a mixture of emotions - excitement, nervousness, happiness and anticipation.

I was thinking to myself 'Do I look alright?' and 'What should I say to him?' Because of the short notice I didn't have time to get David a present but I did write him a letter saying how much I loved him.

I took my friend Myriam who likes him a bit. She used to love David Beckham as much as I do but she seemed more excited at the prospect of shopping than meeting Becks for some reason.

Beck's Arrival
We arrived at Virgin Megastores at about 2.45pm, which was early.

The signing was due to start at 4.30pm and our DVDs had not arrived yet. About half an hour later we got our DVDs and started queuing up. We were towards the front of the queue but there were still a number of people and lots of press photographers with their cameras right at the front so we could not see much.

My heart was beating harder and faster by the second at this point and I kept asking the staff 'Is he here yet?'

One of them just gave me a look and asked 'Why do you want to know?' as if there was something wrong with my question. I said 'I'm excited.' Didn't they understand that?

While we were waiting they played clips of 'Really Bend it like Beckham' on the big screen.

It was getting closer.

"Then I got a phone call from ThisIsLondon telling me that I was one of their winners at about 3.30pm."

I laughed and told them 'I'm already here!' I couldn't believe I'd actually won that competition as well.

Then the moment came, they announced that David Beckham was in the building and we would be starting early.

As David Beckham entered the room everyone started cheering and clapping and I screamed as loud as I could.

As the cheering died down I shouted through the crowd 'I love you, David!'

Everyone around me turned round to look at me probably thought 'Who is that crazy obsessed girl?'

The guy standing next to me said 'You can tell him that when you're up there' and I said I would.

David Beckham then did a football demonstration with Jade and Xavier from the DVD. All I could see was the ball going up and down. My excitement grew as I caught a glimpse of half his face from where I was standing. It was frustrating not being able to see Beckham show off his football skills and I tried to climb onto a barrier but injured myself in the process.

As I got closer I was going mad with excitement and someone said to me

'You aren't going to faint are you?' I didn't but if I did David Beckham could have given me mouth to mouth!

A Kiss For Becks
The Kiss
The queue moved slowly but I soon found myself next in the queue. David was there right in front of me looking unbelievably gorgeous, wearing a white shirt, black jacket and ripped jeans.

He flashed that sexy smile at me, must have been happy to see me again. Ah, that was truly heaven! His eyes were twinkling and he looked even hotter than anyone could possibly imagine.

I just couldn't think straight. I went up to David and said 'I love you David, I'm your biggest fan!' and handed him the letter I wrote.

I asked him 'Can you give me a kiss please, David?'

And he said to me 'Do you want to give me one?'

I was thinking 'Of course! Who wouldn't say yes to that?' It was on the cheek, not the lips probably because he didn't want to get into trouble with Victoria.

I moved in, put my arm around him and my lips lingered against his cheek for a good few seconds. I kissed him tenderly and could feel his stubble brush my mouth.

Hopefully he didn't wipe it off. As I hugged him, I cheekily stuck a bright pink post-it note with my details on his jacket so hopefully he will call or write soon.

It was in heavenly and I wasn't dreaming. I kissed David Beckham! It was better than I could possibly have imagined and I haven't stopped thinking about that moment.

He signed my DVD in silver pen in the top right hand corner. David was so nice and such a charmer. I asked one of the security guards to take pictures for me with my camera but she didn't take any pictures so I was really disappointed that I didn't have any photos to capture that incredible moment.

My friend did manage to take one picture of Beckham and me on my phone, which was nice but a bit blurry. Then we had to say goodbye and were made to leave.

The Special Moment
We tried to take the escalators upstairs so we could take more pictures on the way down but we were blocked and made to go downstairs.

The security guards were blocking to way up and just stood there saying 'David Beckham' in a mean voice. I tried the 'I think I've left my camera upstairs' trick but they didn't fall for that.

That really was the best moment of my life - kissing David Beckham! He was so sweet and made my dreams come true that day. I've been on a high ever since. The moment I kissed David Beckham will be with me forever in my heart.
