Diego Simeone
1998 - Beckham is shown the first red card of his career after lashing out at Diego Simeone in the 1998 World Cup quarter-finals. The Argentine playmaker admits to feigning injury. England loses on penalties.

Elizondo Horacio
2000 - Beckham gets his second red card in the World Club Championship against Mexican side Necaxa. The referee Elizondo Horacio, is also an Argentinian.

Aldo Duscher
2002 - Deportivo La Coruna's Argentinian midfielder Aldo Duscher breaks the metatarsal bone in Beckham's left foot during a Champions League clash. The Englishman enters the World Cup not fully fit.

Lionel Scaloni
2003 - Argentina's Lionel Scaloni accuses Beckham of making obscene gestures at him during Real's Madrid's 2-1 triumph over Deportivo. Beckham reacts to a challenge and both end up rolling around on the pitch before their teammates join in. He also exchanges words with old foe Duscher.

Jose Luis Acciari
2004 - Suffers an ankle injury in the 1-0 victory over Murcia after a challenge by Argentine midfielder Jose Luis Acciari.
