Vodafone announced on Mid August 2002 that it has signed a two year world wide image rights deal with England soccer captain and Manchester United star David Beckham.
The deal will allow Vodafone to use Beckham in advertisements and generate content, like screen savers and mobile games.
David Beckham will appear in a series of adverts for the phone, taking snaps of himself in cities across Europe to beam back to his family at home. Along with Michael Schumacher's image, it is hoped Beckham will help promote the camera phones.
One of the adverts shows Beckham taking a photograph of himself, presumably to send back to Victoria and the kids while on route to United's latest away game. Another shows him being approached by a fan who wants to be photographed with his idol. Vodafone hopes it will be one of the biggest-selling phones this.
