Scooby Doo Advert

David Beckham is set to star alongside cartoon character In a world first, David Beckham and Scooby-Doo have been brought together to star in the latest adidas TV commercial.

In the advertisement produced by Cartoon Network, David Beckham will appear for the first time as an animated character and Scooby-Doo will star with arguably the most famous football player in the world. The 60-second spot is voiced by David Beckham himself and will debut on cable and satellite channels across Europe on October 1st.

The new commercial follows a classic high-action Scooby-Doo situation where the gangs of meddling kids unmask a mystery ghoul to reveal a surprising twist. "I liked the idea that I would feature in a legendary cartoon that my kids watch," said David Beckham.

"Scooby-Doo has a massive following around the world and it was cool just to be part of the latest adidas spot."

"We launched our "Impossible is Nothing" campaign this year with some of the greatest athletes of all time. Working with Scooby adds a great element of fun to our campaign, while maintaining the highest level of sport with David Beckham. The fact of David meets Scooby-Doo in itself was an impossible scenario," commented Uli Becker, adidas Head of Global Brand Communications.

The advert was animated and produced in-house at Cartoon Network UK due to the channel's unparalleled knowledge of the Scooby-Doo character and its ownership of the Hanna Barbera Studios where Scooby-Doo was born. Cartoon Network is positioned as the premiere animation channel for kids and therefore the perfect match for an adidas commercial with David Beckham.

Cartoon Network's Senior Vice President of European Ad sales, Dee Forbes, commented: "It has been great for us to work with adidas on such an amazing piece of creative and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with David Beckham on this project.

The commercial is part of the year-long fully integrated brand communication campaign

"Impossible is nothing" that was launched earlier this year with the unique Ali vs. Ali TV spot and continued with a series of TV commercials during the Olympic Games in Athens starring Haile Gebrselassie, Kim Collins and Nadia Comaneci.
